Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor Go Salmon Fishing in Yemen (watch!) 1Emily Blunt, Ewan McGregor and Kristin Scott Thomas are featured in a new trailer for this feel-good British comedy about the unlikely dream of bringing salmon fly-fishing to the desert kingdom of Yemen.

Desperate for a good news story out of the Middle East, the press secretary for the UK’s Prime Minister, enlists consultant Harriet Chetwode-Talbot, played by Blunt, to get the project off the ground.

She pitches the idea to Fred Jones, a fisheries scientist who thinks the idea is absolutely crazy. That is, until he meets the determined sheikh, played by Amr Waked.

The environmental conditions, of course, are hardly conducive to cold water fish like salmon, but that’s just one of the challenges Jones must overcome.

The introverted scientist also finds himself falling for the totally urbane Chetwode-Talbot.

The movie, based on Paul Torday’s 2007 novel by the same name, screened to decent reviews at the Toronto Film Festival.

Lasse Hallstrom, directs and writer Simon Beaufoy, who won and Oscar for “Slumdog Millionaire,” wrote the script.

Halstrom directed the 2000 indie hit “Chocolat” with Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche. Salmon Fishing seems to have the same funky feel.

It also wouldn’t be British comedy if it didn’t include a bit of droll political satire.

The film is set to open for a limited run in February 2012. Check out the trailer below.
