Elizabeth Olsen's 'Silent House' Unleashed on DVD, Blu-Ray 1Elizabeth Olsen thriller “Silent House” is heading for release on DVD and Blu-ray. The horror film was shot in cinema vérité style with every minute of the film real time.

The movie tracks Olsen’s character Sarah after she becomes locked inside her family’s secluded lake house, cut off from the outside world.

Panic creeps in after Sarah discovers that someone has been living in the basement of the abandoned and boarded up house. She finds her apparently father knocked unconscious and thinks she sees someone with a flashlight looking for her.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year, and was released in US theaters this past march. It’s a remake of the 2010 Uruguayan film La casa muda, and allegedly based on a true story that occurred in the 1940s.

Thee film also stars Adam Trese (“40 Days and 40 Nights,” “Zodiac”) and Eric Sheffer Stevens (Julie & Julia).

The original movie got decent critical reviews with a 73 percent rating from rottentomatoes, which tracks reviews. People who saw it, however, only gave it a 35 percent rating.

The remake was mostly panned by critics. The film received a 42 percent rating and those who saw it hated it worse. They gave it a 30 percent rating. It grossed just over $13 million worldwide in theaters.

The Silent House Blu-ray Combo Pack includes UltraViolet, a DVD and a Digital Copy of the film, so it can be played on almost any device.

In addition to commentary by Co-director Chris Kentis and screenwriter/co-director Laura Lau participate the Blu-ray disc also includes a number of technical features, such as a video timeline, and a feature that instantly skips back a few seconds on and turns on the subtitles to highlight missed dialogue.

The disc hits stores July 24.
