Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt Rain $$$$ on Charity

Brad Pitt-Angelina JolieHollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have opened their purse strings and poured out $6.8 million to various charity groups in the last year. Who got what?

Brad and Angelina last year sold the rights to the first images of their twins, Knox and Vivienne, who were born on July 12 2008 , for several million dollars to People magazine and a similar magazine in the UK.

This money is believed to have been donated to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which they formed in 2006 to aid global humanitarian causes.

The Hollywood couple, who are raising six children together, gave the money to several different charities last year after raising the money through their Foundation, which provides tax benefits to the couple as well.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation banked $13 million in 2008 and over half was given back to good causes, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which obtained a copy of the 2008 tax return for the charity. Returns for public charities are considered public documents.

The Global Health Council, an organization that strives to reduce disease and death globally, received $2 million from the couple.

Brad’s Make It Right Foundation and the Human Rights Watch each got $1 million from the celebrity pair.

The rest of the money was split between The Armed Services YMCA of the US Army, which go $500,000, schools in Brad Pitt’s hometown in Springfield, Missouri, $50,000, and around $1 million went towards projects in Cambodia, where their eight-year-old adopted son Maddox was born.

They also raise five-year-old son Pax and daughters Zahara, four and three-year-old Shiloh.
