Chris Martin and Coldplay landed in Australia for their tour and Martin revealed in to fans that estranged wife Gwyneth Paltrow was the inspiration behind the band’s new album Ghost Stories.

The band was playing at The Star Event Centre in Sydney on Wednesday night (June 18) when Martin addressed the audience.

“We haven’t really told anyone about this album we made called Ghost Stories,” he said from the stage, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

“So just between you and me, I’ll tell you a lot of it is about when you go through something a little difficult, and you understand that by staying with it you reach a place of love and happiness and come through better the other side,” he said.

The reference was to his 10-year marriage to Paltrow. The couple broke up three months ago when they announced that they had decided to “consciously uncouple.”

Gwyneth and Chris have a 10-year-old daughter, Apple, and eight-year-old son, Moses.

Recent tabloid reports say the couple may be reconciling and have been spotted together on a couple of recent outings, looking very enamored with each other.

Martin and Coldplay performed today (June 19) for fans at Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia. The band played songs from Ghost Stories, as well as classics “Paradise,” “Clocks” and “Viva La Vida.”

This is the band’s first tour of Australia in almost 15 years, Martin said.
