Lady Gaga said she was moved to tears when she saw Maria Aragon perform “Born This Way,” on YouTube, and she apparently meant it. She brought the 10-year-old on stage in Toronto for a duet in front of thousands of fans.
Aragon is one of several musical YouTube phenoms who have caught the attention of millions after their videos have gone viral on the Internet.
Her rendition of Gaga’s song has been viewed almost 18 million times since the Paparazzi singer spotted the video and Tweeted about it to her two million plus Twitter fans.
“Can’t stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future,” she Tweeted.
When Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, who is on tour, swung through Canada, she looked up Aragon and invited her to perform during her Toronto appearance.
“I’m really excited Maria is here today because Maria represents what this song is all about.
“It’s all about the next generation of the future,” Gaga told the crowd.
Aragon didn’t miss a beat, giving a big shout out to the crowd, made up of her hometown Gaga fans.
“I just wanted to say I’m really grateful for all of you. I just want to thank all of you for all your support,” she said.
“I want to shout out to all my friends back in Winnipeg, and my family, and all you guys — thank you so much.
