Debbie Gibson, Tiffany Ready to Relive '80s on Tour (video)

Debbie Gibson, Tiffany Ready to Relive '80s on Tour (video) 1Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, teen idols from the 1980s and some say rivals, will finally join forces in a joint tour, starting with a performance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series, Friday, July 29.

From there, they will embark on a series of limited-dates across the United States.

Like most legacy acts, they have a good chance of reconnecting with the once huge fan bases.

The timing couldn’t be better; ’80s-style dance-influenced pop music is making a comeback through artists like Lady Gaga and Ke$ha and the hit Fox show “Glee.”

Gibson and Tiffany were both pop princesses who hit the big time as teens and had meteoric careers.

The show, to be called “Journey through the “80s,” will feature songs that have inspired both artists.

Gibson’s choices will be culled from the pop world, while Tiffany’s will represent a healthy dose of both rock and country tunes.

Both artists will of course, perform their individual hits.

Gibson’s “Only In my Dreams,” “Shake Your Love,” and “Electric Youth,” and, Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” are ’80s classics.

The singers, now in their 40s, will also feature new music; Gibson has a forthcoming release and Tiffany has just released her new Rose Tattoo album.

Both artists recently appeared in the successful SyFy original movie “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” a campy monster disaster film.

“After working with Tiffany on the movie I realized the children of the ’80s get a kick out of seeing us together,” says Gibson.

“This was a chance to give the people what they want and honor an era we all look back on fondly! Musically Tiffany and I are so different …it will make for a diverse and entertaining evening!”

Both artists continue to write, record and perform.

Tiffany’s second-single of her album, a cover of the Tommy James & the Shondells’ hit “I Think We’re Alone Now” became a No. 1 pop chart hit.

Gibson has sold in excess of 16 million albums. With her song “Lost In Your Eyes,” she was the youngest-artist ever to have written, performed and produced a No. 1 pop single; a record which still stands.

She’s also starred in numerous Broadway productions, such as Cabaret, Les Miserables, and Gypsy, among others.
