Taylor Swift Rocks Out Times Square to Support New Album 'Red' (watch!)

Taylor Swift Rocks Out Times Square to Support New Album 'Red' (watch!) 1Taylor Swift played New York’s Times Square this morning as part of her “Good Morning America” promotional appearances for her new album “Red.” After talking about how she wrote the songs, she sang two of her new hits to a throng of fans.

Swift has been previewing songs for the album for the past several weeks in a run up to the album’s release yesterday (Oct. 23).

She performed new singles “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and “Red,” both of which are controversial because they were reportedly inspired by her breakup with movie actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The two dated last year for about three months.

Swift, however, has been coy about the inspiration for her songs and said the song “All Too Well” from the album was actually the hardest to write.

She told host George Stephanopoulos it took her a long time “to filter through everything I wanted to put in the song without it being a 10 minute song, which you can’t put on an album.

“I wanted a story that could work in the form of a song and I called my co-writer Liz Rose and said, ‘Come over, we’ve gotta filter this down,’ and it took me a really long time to get it,” she explained.

The song is about meeting an ex-boyfriend’s family and leaving her scarf at his sister’s house. Hmmmm… could that be sister Maggie Gyllenhaal? Taylor reportedly spent Thanksgiving 2010 at Gyllenhaal’s house.

Swift is head over heels about dating Conor Kennedy, the 18-year-old son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. God forbid he should ever break up with her.
