The latest offering is a far cry from a church-run whore house that was the theme of his third video based on the song “The Next Day” off his new album by the same name.
The album marks the 66-year-old singer’s return to studio recording after a 10-year hiatus. His 23rd studio album, Reality, was released in 2003.
His video for “The Next Day,” was banned from YouTube and produced the first full-blown crisis for newly installed Pope Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the former arch-bishop of Buenos Aires.
Directed by Markus Klinko and Indrani, the new video puts the focus squarely on Bowie. Although some may question his relevance, his songs are ripped right from the headlines and serve as insightful social commentary.
“Valentine’s Day” is no different; it’s about a high school massacre. The imagery conveys the sense of deranged loner, trapped in his own mind.
