Ann-Margaret Honored at Broadway & Beyond Gala Benefit (photos!)

Ann-Margret, winner of five Golden Globes, an Emmy and two-time Academy Award nominee, was honored for her long show business career at the Rolex Broadway & Beyond gala last night (Oct. 8) at New York City Center.

Last year’s honoree, Liza Minnelli presented her with the Rolex Dance Award.

Ann Marie DeAngelo produced the evening’s performances by some of Broadway’s biggest stars. Songs were featured from A Chorus Line, Damn Yankees and Tap Dance Kid, among other shows.

Artists from the American Repertory Ballet, the Broadway Dance Lab, Cirque du Soleil, he Dresden Semperoper Ballett, the New York Song & Dance Co. and other organizations where scheduled to perform.

The show also included a world premiere from Smash choreographer Josh Bergasse.

Ann Van Ness and Harlequin Floors received the “Outstanding Contributions to the World of Dance Awards.”

Ann is known for her lifelong effort to improve the lives of others through philanthropy. Harlequin produces sprung and vinyl flooring for the dance and performing arts communities.

Career Transition For Dancers has helped more than 5,800 professional dancers identify their unique talents in preparation for establishing new careers when dance is no longer an option.

Since its founding in 1985, the organization has provided 60,000 hours (equivalent to $7.8 million) of one-on-one career counseling and program services at no cost and has awarded more than $5 million in scholarships.

The organization also provides dancers with specialized services including transition seminars and workshops, peer support groups, resource centers and a toll-free national career counseling hotline.
